My Art Quilts Need a New Home. Do you realize

Art quilt for sle Deep Woods in a room setting

I’m going to put my big girl panties on!

  • My art quilts need a new home.
    • One day after I logged on, I found my blog theme had imploded, words filled every square inch.Words, titles, snippets from posts, letters covered my entire
    • home page.
  • A voice was screaming in my brain when I realized what this meant,”Arrrgh, I’ll have to set up a new theme all by myself”,“OHO.NOO What am I going to do?” A deep groan of despair escaped my lips “Who would I find to help me?”
  • The thought struck fear in my heart! I am tech challenged to put to put it  mildly,.

  • The support personnel on the sites I
  •  frequent  must know me by name.

    We need a new home
  • To their credit, they have never
  • screamed at me, hung on me or
  • shown the slightest hint of annoyance.
  • My my new “best-ies receive
  • so many frantic calls for “HELP”
  • from the clueless lady, that they must
  • , must draw straws. The loser is stuck with her.
  • The lady who requires  literally hours of time  to assist  It  usually takes half a day
  • am sure they rarely deal with persons so profoundly handicapped in knowledge. They have to speak very slowly and repeat things over and over, “Yes Ma’am to start your computer push that button at the top left corner of your keyboard, that’s the thing with all the letters on it, like a typewriter.Yes Ma’am I think you have it, is a light coming on?”
  •  I have to say though, they’re all such a polite and patient group of young people. I always ask, after their ordeal, to speak with their supervisors. I commend them and tell the company what a fine support person they have in that employee. They deserve the small shout of commendation, I always mention that they deserve a raise. I hope they aren’t fired because I used so much of their time.
  •  Example, I was contacted through my Facebook business page by a lady whose daughter works for Apple support, her daughter had helped me that day, somehow probably from boredom as I tried to log on, she had looked at my website, and commented that her Mom would like these. She called her Mom long distance to tell her mother to look at my website. Her mom had messaged me to relate that her daughter had sent her. See? Great kids.
  • WordPress let’s you preview their beautiful themes to see how they fit, like trying on clothes at a dept. store. I’ve changed themes so many times today, it must have seemed like a slide show as I fumbled around.
  • I feel like a sheep lost in the woods, Baa I’m lost and can’t find my way home. A map would help if a sheep could read. But learning to read requires motivation as well.
  • My observations of sheep behavior is limited, being a city girl from Las Vegas. There aren’t many little flocks of sheep roaming the streets, their little eyes blinking from the bright flashing lights of the Las Vegas strip.
  • Sheep are such cute little creatures. For some reason,  though I’ve always had the impression that they aren’t very observant. It seems that they are frequently wandering off unawares. At some point they apparently realize that they are all alone and lost. You rarely hear about a lost sheep trying to find his way home. He’ll just shiver in fear as he waits for the shepherd to find him.
  • When it comes to the internet, I feel that sheep and I have something in common. Lost but not looking for a map,  a map to get home. I realized this as the website themes began to fly.
  • Now in my weak defense, I rarely sleep. Seriously, I often go for days on end without one minute of it. I can verify that sleep deprivation causes serious issues with clear thinking and efficiency. That is a medical issue.
  • But…. in all honesty my problems are due to lack of knowledge. I discovered a wonderful thing, WordPress has a huge library of support and education!  I’ve decided  I’m going to arm myself, reading as much information as I can stuff into my little head, which has lost some of it’s stuffing’s. I think there may be hope for me yet. We’ll see how it goes.

About Myself & My Approach To My Art About Myself & My Approach To My Art I can't remember a time in life, that art didn't play a role, in one form or another. But my primary focus as an artist, has been painting. Close to 20 years ago, I was introduced to quilting & quickly became passionate about it. However to create a quilt there are some necessary steps that have to be followed, this obviously restricts some of the creative choices. I began to miss the creative freedom possible with painting. Since there are only so many hours in a day and I had other important things going on in my life, I had to focus my interests. When I discovered mixed media art quilting, it was a great fit. The combination of quilting techniques with painting and other art skills opened new creative directions to explore. I was home! It's the creative process that holds the greatest attraction for me. I love starting with a tiny seed of an idea; vague and blurred around the edges. Then I follow where it leads. My approach is more of an instinctual one. I usually don't do much pre-planning. My creative choices are made as they present themselves, based on my gut feeling. This approach can lead to quite a few changes in the direction the quilt takes. The outcome can come as a surprise. I love that element of surprise! Sometimes everything just comes together & I think that this is one of my better ones. I can’t wait to show someone. I feel like a six year old, running home from school, a drawing in hand, excited to show Mom. At those times. I'm smiling like the Cheshire cat. Personal Links

    1. I find myself looking for help from any willing source; savvy friends, tech support, family members. I have learned a lot on my own too, yet often find myself frustrated by large gaps in knowledge.I have many more important priorities in my life, that require time and energy. Yet we make time for what we want. This may not be the highest on my life priorities, but I can still make a commitment to myself, that I will make a concerted effort to fill in the gaps. There are so many sources available online & off,.I need to utilize what is available.I can to view this as a step to get to where I want to be.You & several others are good examples, you are willing to continue to expand your horizons in directions that are important to you, your willingness to continue to stretch your wings will fuel your excitement in your work & keep it from becoming static… .

    2. Glad I’m not alone. As I mentioned in my post, I chose & discarded a lot of themes initially. Then I found some articles in support that said carefully plan the layout and your menus first and then find your theme, i’m trying to do this in the correct way to avoid future problems. But there’s terminology I don’t understand and forms I need to fill out again not knowing what the terms are that they’re asking for. So more research is needed. I’ve got pages and pages of copied support articles grouped in to into piles this theme related supply’s.articles covering every step of the process I couId think of. Dozens of trees died on my behalf but hopefully I’ll get it right. I think I’m ready for an online basic skills class.
