HRkbmiI’ve been an artist most of my life, a painter. When I was introduced to art quilting, I loved it & began to create art quilts.?But eventually I began to miss painting.
I beOgan to mix my mediums and was able to enjoy using techniques from booth.
So now I consider myself a mixed media quilt artist. I paint many of the t in e wThmn oiy quilts then use lquilting techniques as well, it’s the bestie of both worlds & offers more creative options to chose from.
Generally I do little preplanning,, I e in creating the piece I intuitively. It starts with a tiny seed of an idea, vague & unformed. I follow where that leads. You might say it evolves, there are often changes in the direction it takes.
. Often, the finished quilt may come as a surprise.
I love that element of surprise! Sometimes everything just comes together and I am particularly pleased with the outcome. I can’t wait to show someone.
I feel like a 6 year running home from school with his artwork in hand. He can’t wait to show Mom. When that happens, I’m smiling like the Cheshire cat.
