Polar Opposites. How Does Your Garden Go?

I’ve started two new garden quilts. They may both have garden themes, but they are polar
opposites. So here is a preview of these 2 unfinished garden art quilts. See what you think.
I think you will can get an inkling of the direction I am heading with each one.
So hear we go…

“Rain Forest Canopy” a new abstract art quilt

The hand painted silk had such beautiful colors, flowing teal, green and blue with the sharp contract of a bright punch of red. I enjoyed the thread painting on this, finding the right balance to work with the design, not obscure it.
As I worked on it I pictured in my mind the canopy at the top of a rain forest.

Two Daisies, I’m Just Having Some Fun

Here is my latest quilt, just finished and posted on Etsy. I know you’ve seen it, a few peeks here and there. I hand painted the silk then added a bit of applique. and then the thread painting commenced. As I mentioned somewhere [was it here? I don’t know]  I don’t design any of myContinue reading “Two Daisies, I’m Just Having Some Fun”

That’s nice. Posted on Fiber Art Now’s Page

Just got a notification that the magazine Fiber Art Now has posted 2 sf my quilts on their FB page in the category “Work we like”.

It’s nice to receive a nod of approval. Thanks Fiber Art Now.

“Every woman needs a space of her own” -V. Wolfe. or I want a bigger studio.

The idea for this series was triggered by my need for a more studio space. Maybe you have this problem as well. Would you enjoy a area all your own? A place to think, read or write. Didn’t Virginia Wolf say that “every woman needs a space of her own?” Or maybe that was a room of her own?

My Dining Room Studio, No Room? Repurpose!

Studio? What comes to mind? All those yummy, organized studios you see in the quilting magazines?

Dream studios, and then there’s me. One small overflowing little room, shelving up the walls I need to rethink this studio.

ENTERTAIN THE OBSESSIVE WAY! INCLUDES A BONUS,” FIND WALDO”.

These parties were all done in the Obsessive Entertaining style. By definition this involves never knowing when enough is enough, that’s my hallmark. I’ll show a couple examples today and save more for the future posts in this series, known as the Obsessive Entertaining Style.

Cakes update for themed parties, more entertaining, part two

I’m a self taught amatuer and it takes me literally a whole day to do one, not including the baking. At the end of the day’s work. my entire self, kitchen, floor and sink are covered with colored icing & powdered sugar. There’s so many discolored bowls, dishcloth’s and fingers tinted by the cake decorating colors that it looks like an unsupervised 2 year old was let loose, having the best unsupervised time of his life.

Seuss Over You

NEW QUILT END OF !ST DAY I just felt like goofing with crazy wild quilting the other night. I have these fluorescent Superior threads that were calling my name, ” Come out and play!”. Then there were these wildly colored fabrics… I don’t use my stash much these days, use my own painted/dye fabric, mostlyContinue reading “Seuss Over You”

Weekly Photo Challenge Focus

How focus can be used to create so many interesting photos. So many possibilities are open, so many ways to approach this. The possibilities are endless, ,only limited by our imaginations. I thought this could really stretch us to see things from a different angle. You know, outside the box. Let creativity run amock!
