I Had A Little Idea

When making these art quilts, I had an idea,”Why not make several differentย framed art quilts,ย each one unique, yet designed to be hung together as a grouping?”. Sold together as a group, it would make an attractive display on the wall.ย

A Look Back Over My Shoulder, A glance At The Past

It felt good to have finished my Iris quilt. It’s hanging in it’s new spot in it’s new home. I did this commission for a friend, who commissioned it as a gift for one of her friends. Itโ€™s such a good feeling when you’re happy with the result of a work you started. I thinkContinue reading “A Look Back Over My Shoulder, A glance At The Past”

Contrast, make your art quilts POP!

Do you want to stand out in a crowd of people dressed in black? Wear white.
Contrast can make an impact.

Wear white.

Strong contrasts make things stand out, they are noticed immediately, commanding your attention. A strong contrast will intensify the impact cf the contrasting items. What this brings to my mind is an image of a elderly woman with bright dyed red hair pulled into two pigtails, one on either side of her head. This all goes to show how memorable contrasts can be.

Cherry Blossoms, It’s Raining Pink!

“It’s Raining Pink”. This art quilt is from the perspective of looking up the trunk of an old twisted cherry tree. It carries the scars gained from many years. As you look up you see a cloud of pink above. Your eyes follow the slow drift of a pink petal as it finally reaches the ground below your feet, that is covered with pink. Is it raining pink?
