A Look Back Over My Shoulder, A glance At The Past

It felt good to have finished my Iris quilt. It’s hanging in it’s new spot in it’s new home. I did this commission for a friend, who commissioned it as a gift for one of her friends. It’s such a good feeling when you’re happy with the result of a work you started. I thinkContinue reading “A Look Back Over My Shoulder, A glance At The Past”

It’s Blue and Pink and Finshed!!!

Blue and Pink A cherry blossom art quilt, it is a big size and all those cherry blossoms took a long  Time to make. I took the inspiration photos last spring and I have finally finished my art quilt. That’s a while. I’ve had a few progress reports along the way, so I’m  sure that youContinue reading “It’s Blue and Pink and Finshed!!!”

Blue and Pink

Looking up at the blue sky above, it is filled with pink. The cherry blossoms are blooming. An ART QUILT!

You’re Never Without a Camera

On my walk one day last month, I saw a wonderful sight,  looking up, delicate pink blossoms with sky blue behind them. Yes it’s cherry blossom time. This could be a future art quilt. Thanks to my Smart phone I took a few pictures, OK I took a lot of pictures, I don’t have over 4000 pictures stored in my phone for nuttin.

The Finished Quilt, in it’s new home, Australia

“Here’s The Finished Quilt” Now that this art quilt is completed, I’m going to share a few more photos of it, in it’s final form. Many of the elements in this quilt will look familiar, because I’ve been posting photos all along, showing it’s progress as I’ve worked on it.

A Look Over My Shoulder, Work Continues On My Latest Commission.

I’m posting a few pictures along the way, as I work on my latest art quilt commission. Feel free to look over my shoulder if you’d  like to follow my progress  along the way. As I mentioned in my last post, this art quilt was commissioned by a psychologist in Australia. The subject she chose was an exotic tree called theContinue reading “A Look Over My Shoulder, Work Continues On My Latest Commission.”

I Never Knew, So Many Wonderful Things Waiting To Be Discovered

If you’ve noticed I haven’t been around much, lately. I’ve been keeping mighty busy working on a new commission from an Australian psychologist. To She has given me a very interesting project. My client wants a large art quilt with a beautiful Australian tree called a royal poinciana as the subject.  I’d never heard ofContinue reading “I Never Knew, So Many Wonderful Things Waiting To Be Discovered”

Contrast, make your art quilts POP!

Do you want to stand out in a crowd of people dressed in black? Wear white.
Contrast can make an impact.

Wear white.

Strong contrasts make things stand out, they are noticed immediately, commanding your attention. A strong contrast will intensify the impact cf the contrasting items. What this brings to my mind is an image of a elderly woman with bright dyed red hair pulled into two pigtails, one on either side of her head. This all goes to show how memorable contrasts can be.

Update, Whew. I’ve Been Keeping Busy

I’ve been working fast and furious to finish several projects. I thought you might like to see a few of the finished fiber art quilts.

That’s a Wrap, Hollyhocks and Ladybugs

This is a floral art quilt, but I wanted to add a contemporary spin, a little non traditional. So I chose to give the flowers and stalks a disproportional profile. As my husband observed , it would be how the world might look to a little bug as he looked up at the huge world. hat’s a Wrap http://wp.me/pZYTG-3ar Here is the contemporary art quilt I’ve been working on
