Here’s a baby quilt, with a tea party theme. It could make a cute table topper too.
The hand turned applique tea pots and cups are in small blue prints. They rest on a center square of yellow fabric that has tiny blue tea cups over it. It is darling fabric. I did a bit of fun quilting, feathers around the borders and wisps of steam coming from the tea cups.
The white outer border fabric has lightly colored pastel teapots
” Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail” Ralph Waldo Emerson This quote from Emerson could be applied to the many fiber artists who forged ahead off the path into new directions that many “authorities” looked to as judges of good taste. Those leavingContinue reading “What is fiber art anyway?”
A woman had a friend call her and tell her that she had just.seen an art quilt she thought her friend ought to see. The friend that received the call just happened to be the editor of the County Register publication, Confused yet? Me too, and I wrote this.
FEMA’s disaster preparedness campaign, had lit a fire under me [which would ironically, pose a disastrous threat to my safety, if taken literally.] Clothes igniting, as I ran around screaming, “I’m on fire, I’m on fire!” Those flames under my backside have lit a fire.” One pass too close to my drapes and the entire house
could go. Disturbing. I immediately downloaded the FEMA disaster readiness supply list
The Pigs Are Flying!! I have finally finished the long promised, illusive website which I have spoken of endlessly for months. Any second it would go live. But I realized finally the hopelessness of my quest. I lacked the most basic knowledge and skill needed. The advert for this template site was “Anyone could build a website in an afternoon”. “I’m an anyone, so why not?” I thought. Because no one counted on this anyone as so hopelessly beyond the simplest skills which even a 4 year old child possesses. Months and months have passed. Finally with endless hours of tech support, a miracle! The Pigs Are Flying!
I need to strap myself to my machine and make quilts, lots and lots of quilts,Here is the beginning of #1 , The colors are just wonderful. Wish I took time to write down my color formulas but no, it’s always a little bit of this and a bit of that
I had a nice experience that I thought I’d share. The state of Oregon purchased four of my art quilts. You may wonder why would a state need art quilts? They were needed because the old Oregon State Hospital was just that, old. Repairs and improvements had been made over the years, but it had reached the point that the state decided they needed a new one.
That new facility has just reached completion. the new beautiful Oregon State Hospital and new beautiful buildings need to be decorated. So art needs to be purchased. This is where I came into the picture,as well as other artists.. This is the same hospital that the old
movie “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” was filmed in. Do you remember this movie?
I vacillate between ” This is too insanely wild” and “Oh I’m just having a little fun”. I ask myself “If I ever finished it, would I have the nerve to put it in my shop?” I haven’t got a clue, but in the meantime, I still just having fun.
The following week, when I heard a phone carrier sales guy say that they would be receiving a small shipment of iPhone 6eswas come in phones coming in on that very week. If you were in that line, you might be able to get one of those phones. Well I was going to get one of those phones! I immediately began to form a plan to ensure I got one. And by golly I was going be first in that line, make no mistake.
I flew out of bed when that alarm went off. Threw on some clothes, no coffee , no makeup or hair fixing, I don’t even know if I ran a comb through it , nothing. I just got in that csr and flew. The mob frenzy mentality had set in, and my “dignity”flew right out of the door. I was going to first in that line. I would need to be there at 4:30 AM, meaning getting up at about 3:45 A
This is a floral art quilt, but I wanted to add a contemporary spin, a little non traditional. So I chose to give the flowers and stalks a disproportional profile. As my husband observed , it would be how the world might look to a little bug as he looked up at the huge world. hat’s a Wrap http://wp.me/pZYTG-3ar Here is the contemporary art quilt I’ve been working on
