It’s nice to receive a nod of approval. Thanks Fiber Art Now.

ENTERTAIN THE OBSESSIVE WAY! INCLUDES A BONUS,” FIND WALDO”.

These parties were all done in the Obsessive Entertaining style. By definition this involves never knowing when enough is enough, that’s my hallmark. I’ll show a couple examples today and save more for the future posts in this series, known as the Obsessive Entertaining Style.

Weekly Photo Challenge Focus

How focus can be used to create so many interesting photos. So many possibilities are open, so many ways to approach this. The possibilities are endless, ,only limited by our imaginations. I thought this could really stretch us to see things from a different angle. You know, outside the box. Let creativity run amock!

Cherry Blossoms, It’s Raining Pink!

“It’s Raining Pink”. This art quilt is from the perspective of looking up the trunk of an old twisted cherry tree. It carries the scars gained from many years. As you look up you see a cloud of pink above. Your eyes follow the slow drift of a pink petal as it finally reaches the ground below your feet, that is covered with pink. Is it raining pink?

Cherry Blossoms time, the theme of my new art quilt

I love cherry trees, it’s breath taking to see each new tree as it is in full bloom. I love the romance of the pink “snow” which covers the ground after the blossoms fall. I love that glorious spectacle that occurs every year. The fact that it lasts  for only a brief  time, makes theContinue reading “Cherry Blossoms time, the theme of my new art quilt”

Whoa Nelly and Alphonse Mucha

I must apologize for an attempt last night [a really, really late night attempt] to post these two quilts. Somehow I posted a rejected draft, which was jumbled, incoherent, misspelled and unintelligible. To answer your obvious question, No, I had not been drinking heavily at the time nor was I having a psychotic break withContinue reading “Whoa Nelly and Alphonse Mucha”

Two Down, One Scraped? Who Rah!!

, there is so much beautiful fabric available, it’s hard to control the urge to start a new project with every new wonderful fabric you see or buy. It reminds me of a 2 year old running from one toy to the next until he has emptied his whole toy box. I always feel that I’m 4 or 5 projects behind.

I’m finally thinkin’ spring

I love spring, it’s always the beginnings of change that I most appreciate, spring and autumn.

In the not so distant past, I’d throw a spring garden tea party, my annual event. Being the kind of person that I am prone to be, it was always a large event. It was timed to show my garden at it’s best, roses at the peak of their first flush of bloom .Enjoying friends chatting, admiring the flowers with pretty tea cups and tiny sandwiches. It’s perfection. But…the hitch is always predicting the weather.

Am I addicted to stress, 3 at once?

I’ve started work on 3 quilts, don’t ask me why. I usually take em one at a time. The silk background is completed and the silk art painting finished. I’ve just begun the thread work, which is now where near finished as you see. I’ll post updated pictures along the wayI added lots of pearl to my paint colors as I mixed them. So to continue the sparkle, shine theme I’m using quite a lot of metallic threads for the thread work.

60 MPH Sunset I finished the quilt.

So I did the unthinkable, gasp, I took a photo from a moving car. In fact I took several photos. After I downloaded to my computer, surprise, my phone took better photos than I expected. Several in particular I really liked, of a row of popular trees lining the highway silhouetted by the sunset. The minute I saw those photos, the first thing that popped into my mind was AN ART QUILT!!! .

Filtered Light an art quilt

As I was making this quilt I  was thinking of sun light as it penetrates the water above a coral reef. The water filters and softens the light. I could imagine the colors that might result. That is the thought behind this new art quilt, Filtered Light. I have had such a fascination with impressionist style art quilts. Is that an actualContinue reading “Filtered Light an art quilt”
