The Pigs Are Flying!! I have finally finished the long promised, illusive website which I have spoken of endlessly for months. Any second it would go live. But I realized finally the hopelessness of my quest. I lacked the most basic knowledge and skill needed. The advert for this template site was “Anyone could build a website in an afternoon”. “I’m an anyone, so why not?” I thought. Because no one counted on this anyone as so hopelessly beyond the simplest skills which even a 4 year old child possesses. Months and months have passed. Finally with endless hours of tech support, a miracle! The Pigs Are Flying!
In the movie, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory there was one particularity lovely child, you might recall, the adored Varuca Salt.Veruca knew what she wanted and she wanted it NOW!! I have to tell you I’ve felt a little Veruca-ish lately. The elusive website I’ve been working on for months was supposed to take one afternoon.
I need to strap myself to my machine and make quilts, lots and lots of quilts,Here is the beginning of #1 , The colors are just wonderful. Wish I took time to write down my color formulas but no, it’s always a little bit of this and a bit of that
I had a nice experience that I thought I’d share. The state of Oregon purchased four of my art quilts. You may wonder why would a state need art quilts? They were needed because the old Oregon State Hospital was just that, old. Repairs and improvements had been made over the years, but it had reached the point that the state decided they needed a new one.
That new facility has just reached completion. the new beautiful Oregon State Hospital and new beautiful buildings need to be decorated. So art needs to be purchased. This is where I came into the picture,as well as other artists.. This is the same hospital that the old
movie “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” was filmed in. Do you remember this movie?
A few posts back, I mentioned an unfinished project I had restarted. Was I just having a little free motion fun? Or was I seriously considering this a legitimate quilt? Was this my guilty little pleasure, like some low brow TV show that you enjoy, but would never admit it?
I’m currently experimenting with what may prove to be a useful tool to generate a few new creative inspiration options. I’m sure this isn’t a unique idea that hasn’t been tried ideas sources to for creative quilt design.options quilt ideas. ideas for art quilts, photo editing programs.
I’ve been playing around with Photoshop and have had a few results that liked enough to put into my future projects folder. one looked like an old photo negative
I vacillate between ” This is too insanely wild” and “Oh I’m just having a little fun”. I ask myself “If I ever finished it, would I have the nerve to put it in my shop?” I haven’t got a clue, but in the meantime, I still just having fun.
The following week, when I heard a phone carrier sales guy say that they would be receiving a small shipment of iPhone 6eswas come in phones coming in on that very week. If you were in that line, you might be able to get one of those phones. Well I was going to get one of those phones! I immediately began to form a plan to ensure I got one. And by golly I was going be first in that line, make no mistake.
I flew out of bed when that alarm went off. Threw on some clothes, no coffee , no makeup or hair fixing, I don’t even know if I ran a comb through it , nothing. I just got in that csr and flew. The mob frenzy mentality had set in, and my “dignity”flew right out of the door. I was going to first in that line. I would need to be there at 4:30 AM, meaning getting up at about 3:45 A
This is a floral art quilt, but I wanted to add a contemporary spin, a little non traditional. So I chose to give the flowers and stalks a disproportional profile. As my husband observed , it would be how the world might look to a little bug as he looked up at the huge world. hat’s a Wrap http://wp.me/pZYTG-3ar Here is the contemporary art quilt I’ve been working on
An new owner of one of my art quilts found an interesting benefit in hanging fiber art.
An art quilt could add a level of comfort, I can see how it would feel more like home and less like an office. When she mentioned it, I thought of how comforting it was as a child, being wrapped in Grandma’s quilt. It would also block out the sounds of a noisy city, much more relaxing.
