On my walk one day last month, I saw a wonderful sight, looking up, delicate pink blossoms with sky blue behind them. Yes it’s cherry blossom time. This could be a future art quilt. Thanks to my Smart phone I took a few pictures, OK I took a lot of pictures, I don’t have over 4000 pictures stored in my phone for nuttin.
When ArtQuilting Magazine asked
Publish 2 of my art quilts , you can be sure I said Yes, yes thank you!?,””””
Art Quilting Studio magazine is including my art quilt in it’s summer issue. I’m very happy to be included in this beautiful magazine.
“Here’s The Finished Quilt” Now that this art quilt is completed, I’m going to share a few more photos of it, in it’s final form. Many of the elements in this quilt will look familiar, because I’ve been posting photos all along, showing it’s progress as I’ve worked on it.
Do you want to stand out in a crowd of people dressed in black? Wear white.
Contrast can make an impact.
Strong contrasts make things stand out, they are noticed immediately, commanding your attention. A strong contrast will intensify the impact cf the contrasting items. What this brings to my mind is an image of a elderly woman with bright dyed red hair pulled into two pigtails, one on either side of her head. This all goes to show how memorable contrasts can be.
There are only 24 hours in any given day, no more, no less.
Funny thing, everyone has those same 24 hours. So how do they manage? Answer? Scheduling. Planning ahead for the allotment of time they wish to devote to each activity.
So the question I have for myself is “What am I going to do with my 24?”
Here’s a baby quilt, with a tea party theme. It could make a cute table topper too.
The hand turned applique tea pots and cups are in small blue prints. They rest on a center square of yellow fabric that has tiny blue tea cups over it. It is darling fabric. I did a bit of fun quilting, feathers around the borders and wisps of steam coming from the tea cups.
The white outer border fabric has lightly colored pastel teapots
The Pigs Are Flying!! I have finally finished the long promised, illusive website which I have spoken of endlessly for months. Any second it would go live. But I realized finally the hopelessness of my quest. I lacked the most basic knowledge and skill needed. The advert for this template site was “Anyone could build a website in an afternoon”. “I’m an anyone, so why not?” I thought. Because no one counted on this anyone as so hopelessly beyond the simplest skills which even a 4 year old child possesses. Months and months have passed. Finally with endless hours of tech support, a miracle! The Pigs Are Flying!
In the movie, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory there was one particularity lovely child, you might recall, the adored Varuca Salt.Veruca knew what she wanted and she wanted it NOW!! I have to tell you I’ve felt a little Veruca-ish lately. The elusive website I’ve been working on for months was supposed to take one afternoon.
I vacillate between ” This is too insanely wild” and “Oh I’m just having a little fun”. I ask myself “If I ever finished it, would I have the nerve to put it in my shop?” I haven’t got a clue, but in the meantime, I still just having fun.
My issue of Art Quitting Studio has arrived.I’m in it. Just opened it up, thumbed through a few pages and there I was! Who’d a thunk it? A whole article, a 1 & 1/2 page feature. I’m buying several copies, before they change their minds.
I need someone to slap me across the face and say, “Get a hold of yourself woman”.IT’S HERE, IT’S HERE! My issue of Art Quitting Studio has arrived. And they weren’t kidding me, I’m in it. Just opened it up, thumbed through a few pages and there I was! Who’d a thunk it? A whole article, a 3 page feature. .
