Photo Editing Programs- New Tool For Designing Art Quilts?

I’m currently experimenting with what may prove to be a useful tool to generate a few new creative inspiration options. I’m sure this isn’t a unique idea that hasn’t been tried ideas sources to for creative quilt design.options quilt ideas. ideas for art quilts, photo editing programs.
I’ve been playing around with Photoshop and have had a few results that liked enough to put into my future projects folder. one looked like an old photo negative

That’s a Wrap, Hollyhocks and Ladybugs

This is a floral art quilt, but I wanted to add a contemporary spin, a little non traditional. So I chose to give the flowers and stalks a disproportional profile. As my husband observed , it would be how the world might look to a little bug as he looked up at the huge world. hat’s a Wrap http://wp.me/pZYTG-3ar Here is the contemporary art quilt I’ve been working on

A Feature in Art Quilting Studio Magazine

My issue of Art Quitting Studio has arrived.I’m in it. Just opened it up, thumbed through a few pages and there I was! Who’d a thunk it? A whole article, a 1 & 1/2 page feature. I’m buying several copies, before they change their minds.
I need someone to slap me across the face and say, “Get a hold of yourself woman”.IT’S HERE, IT’S HERE! My issue of Art Quitting Studio has arrived. And they weren’t kidding me, I’m in it. Just opened it up, thumbed through a few pages and there I was! Who’d a thunk it? A whole article, a 3 page feature. .

Today’s the day, I’m excited!!

I’ve been rattling off about being featured in Art Quilting Studio magazine. The feature will follow the progress of making this quilt, and the inspiration behind it. It was about finding inspiration everywhere and grab a pic of anything that interests you. It doesn’t have to be super high quality photography. Take your phone andContinue reading “Today’s the day, I’m excited!!”

Time Lapse Art Quilt Begins

An editor stops by my empty Etsy shop. I’m mortified she sees it in such an empty state. Must make quilts, make quilts-no Facebook for you Barbara! Here’s one I’ve just started, if you want to follow it from beginning to end. So why not make a game of it? Time me, let’s see howContinue reading “Time Lapse Art Quilt Begins”

One More Try

It really is pretty, and you can’t tell. I have taken a few more photos and done a few tweaks.

It has such dazzling glittery threads, that just don’t show up in photos. To illustrate the differences

between the actual quilt and the picture of the quilt, I made a list

Two Daisies, I’m Just Having Some Fun

Here is my latest quilt, just finished and posted on Etsy. I know you’ve seen it, a few peeks here and there. I hand painted the silk then added a bit of applique. and then the thread painting commenced. As I mentioned somewhere [was it here? I don’t know]  I don’t design any of myContinue reading “Two Daisies, I’m Just Having Some Fun”

Can you say garden? How about Trending?

I’m on a garden art quilt rampage, or I think I may be doing what is called “trending”, but on a personal level. Honestly, I’m not entirely convinced,I have it right, there are so many new phrases that just go over my head.> For example, hash tags? What on earth are they? N0 clue, I likely stand out like a sore thumb, “What on earth is that woman talking about ?”.

Defining the woman behind TAFA. An interview with Rachel Biel.

The world economy has changed dramatically in the last ten years and the United
States is no longer a stable economy that can support the arts like it used

to. As other emerging economies begin to have more disposable income,

they also begin to show an interest in the handmade lifestyle. I

figured if we all banded together and drove people to the same place, it would
be easier to be found. My mantra has been “Together we can do great things.”

Whoa Nelly and Alphonse Mucha

I must apologize for an attempt last night [a really, really late night attempt] to post these two quilts. Somehow I posted a rejected draft, which was jumbled, incoherent, misspelled and unintelligible. To answer your obvious question, No, I had not been drinking heavily at the time nor was I having a psychotic break withContinue reading “Whoa Nelly and Alphonse Mucha”
