This is a floral art quilt, but I wanted to add a contemporary spin, a little non traditional. So I chose to give the flowers and stalks a disproportional profile. What I liked about this fabric was it’s impressionist style, the way it resembled a watercolor. I wanted keep focus on the painting itself, no fussiness to detract or obscure. . So, to preserve that element, I came up with my plan of action. Don’t cover the fabric by too much fussing. Easy on the thread painting and quilting.
