I’ve been rattling off about being featured in Art Quilting Studio magazine. The feature will follow the progress of making this quilt, and the inspiration behind it. Quilts can be like people, Sometimes quilts just don’t photograph well. Me either, take 100 photos, you won’t get a good one I guarantee. I’m beginning to wonder is this what I really look like?
These parties were all done in the Obsessive Entertaining style. By definition this involves never knowing when enough is enough, that’s my hallmark. I’ll show a couple examples today and save more for the future posts in this series, known as the Obsessive Entertaining Style.
I’m a self taught amatuer and it takes me literally a whole day to do one, not including the baking. At the end of the day’s work. my entire self, kitchen, floor and sink are covered with colored icing & powdered sugar. There’s so many discolored bowls, dishcloth’s and fingers tinted by the cake decorating colors that it looks like an unsupervised 2 year old was let loose, having the best unsupervised time of his life.
“It’s Raining Pink”. This art quilt is from the perspective of looking up the trunk of an old twisted cherry tree. It carries the scars gained from many years. As you look up you see a cloud of pink above. Your eyes follow the slow drift of a pink petal as it finally reaches the ground below your feet, that is covered with pink. Is it raining pink?
