A follow up to my iphone “sunset out of a moving car window ” photos. I have gotten a good start on an art quilt using some of the car window pics as an inspiration. I’ll post the small beginnings tomorrow.
Surfing Google I ran across this montage of my art quilts
I promised a follow up on my new sewing machine, Janome’s new Horizon 8900 QCP, After having a chance to try her out a bit more, I find I’m still in love with this machine. It is perfect for all you who are quilters.
Get your sunglasses, this baby’s a bright one! I’ve been busily working on a few new art quilts, here’s one that turned out to be colorful and lively..
What I liked about this fabric was it’s impressionist style, the way it resembled a watercolor. I wanted keep focus on the painting itself, no fussiness to detract or obscure. . So, to preserve that element, I came up with my plan of action. Don’t cover the fabric by too much fussing. Easy on the thread painting and quilting.
Janome has recently released it’s latest Horizon 8900 Q C P. When it’s release was announced apparently many quilters began to form a line. I’ll share my inital impression.
Do you remember my earlier post about that light bulb moment when you are suddenly struck with an idea which excites you? This art quilt came from that kind of moment. I think you remember what I’m referring to.. Suddenly, a really, really good idea pops into your head, a this it !Eureka!’..
not wanting to waste this beautiful silk on the wrong design. I’d look at it from time to time, waiting for inspiration to hit me. Finally the light bulb went off over my head, I know just what I’m going to do!!
In a piece Marion Barnett wrote, she calls herself the Contrary Quilter, what is the reason behind that description? Her answer
“I don’t believe in rules, and I don’t do conventional”. An interview with textile artist Marion Barnett.
As promised, I’ll share a few more quilts from the big MQX show. Did I mention last post, that there seemed to be more quilts with glimmer and shimmer? I had to find out which methods were used.
As many people around the Portland area are aware, the MQX West show opened this week. It was everything I had hoped for and then some. I am sharing my impressions and photos of some of my favorite quilts. Two installments to cover it all.
I forgot to include the link to Karen’s website. She has a new book out, so you’ll really want that link .http://www.designerquilts.com/
